The starting XI for the pivotal fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Sydney Cricket Ground does not include Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. Jasprit Bumrah has been tasked with taking charge of the team while he is away.
This series, Rohit’s batting performance has been lackluster, scoring a pitiful average of 6.20 while scoring just 31 runs in five innings. Throughout the series, his problems continued even after his batting position was changed.
In the Adelaide and Brisbane Tests, Rohit batted in the middle order at first, but in Melbourne, he resumed his well-known position as an opener. Shubman Gill was excluded as a result of this ruling, although it had no effect. India’s campaign was made more difficult by his ongoing slump, which not only affected his form but also sparked questions about his leadership judgment.
The visitors, led by Bumrah, will try to get back together and put up a solid show in the series finale.
