It has been revealed that Visakhapatnam will once again be the Delhi Capitals’ second home as excitement for the 2025 Indian Premier League grows. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to keep the coastal city in Andhra Pradesh, which has hosted IPL matches in the past, as a location for the forthcoming season.
The VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam will host the Delhi Capitals’ first two games. The team is owned by the GMR Group. The club will begin its season in the city before relocating to their principal home in Delhi, though precise dates and opponents have not yet been decided.
The secondary locations for the Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals have also been revealed, in addition to Visakhapatnam. In Guwahati, the Rajasthan Royals will play the Chennai Super Kings on March 30 and the Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26. The alternate location for Punjab Kings’ matches against the Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been announced as Dharamsala.
Who Is Going to Coach the Delhi Capitals?
The Delhi Capitals have not yet announced their IPL 2025 captain as Rishabh Pant was selected by the Lucknow Super Giants during the IPL auction and is no longer with the team. One of the four players that DC kept, Axar Patel, is a serious candidate for the position. But, considering his wealth of experience as a captain with the Punjab Kings, LSG, and the Indian national team, KL Rahul is still an option.
Opening Match and Final of the IPL 2025
The reigning champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will square off in a thrilling match at Eden Gardens on March 22 to kick off the IPL 2025 season. On March 23, SunRisers Hyderabad will play the Rajasthan Royals in Hyderabad. Eden Gardens will host the grand finale on May 25.
